CLIENT: PIASC (in-house)

This was one of my last large projects with PIASC and quite possibly my proudest, as it is my first award-winning design/illustration work! Association Trends, in their annual TRENDY Awards, gave this piece a Gold award under the Direct Marketing Piece/Promotion Category. You can see the awards including this one at their website.
I was given free creative reign on this project. In 2021, PIASC had expanded their association's territory from California, gaining 12 additional states. I wanted to highlight each state in a fun way to make these new member companies feel welcomed, and to celebrate the association's growth. I came up with the concept of illustrating every state's official state flower and creating a lively card inspired by the flora of our region.

Each illustration was drawn by hand on an iPad in Adobe Fresco and Illustrator. Additional vector art created on the desktop in Illustrator. Final layout, typography, and print setup done in InDesign.

To go above and beyond and wow PIASC's membership, I wanted to utilize special effects. I ended up using a clear overlay inside the card that highlights larger versions of the flowers and educates the reader on the name of the flower in text. I also included some gold underlay on the states. I prepared the document for printing on a Xerox Iridesse Press (at Automation Printing, who did an amazing job producing this!).

Please see below for a preview of what I had to do to set up for these effects.
